Last night I got this idea for the day’s piece, but I was just too tired to sit down to either sketch this out or draw it digitally. So, it’s out this morning.

The words are from La Borinqueña, which is the official anthem for Puerto Rico. The image is that of a garita (pronounced gah-REE-tah), a watchpost/turret built on all forts during the 1500s by the Spanish, and one of the images most commonly associated with Puerto Rico (I think). There are alternate lyrics to the song, but I’ll address those with tomorrow’s (or rather, today’s) piece.

you made me cry! that’s all I’m saying! I can almost hear the whole song with the music! What about Verde Luz? 🙂 There are so many others! En mi Viejo San Juan, Preciosa…

Hmmm… Will have to consider that after I knock out today’s piece. Might become a theme of sorts (like Daniela’s blog)
